He rose to Chief Resident at the University of Chicago during his ophthalmology residency and completed an intensive two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at Northwestern University. His exceptional academic achievements include selection as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholar, for which he spent a year conducting research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. This board-certified specialist couples advanced vitreoretinal fellowship training with advanced technical skill and a deep sense of empathy rooted in his lifelong work with the blind.
