Vascular and Functional Retinal Testing

These studies show how blood flows through the tiny vessels inside your eye and how well your retinal cells are working. By spotting leaks, blockages, or abnormal growths early, we can treat problems before they threaten your sight.

During IVFA a fluorescent dye travels through the blood vessels of your retina. Special images reveal swelling, leaks, or blocked veins, making this test vital for diabetic eye disease and macular edema.

FFA provides a detailed look at retinal circulation. It helps us detect early vessel damage caused by chronic or vascular retinal diseases so we can act before vision loss occurs.

ICGA highlights deeper circulation under the retina. We use it for conditions such as polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy and central serous chorioretinopathy when standard tests do not explain a patient’s symptoms.

FAF maps natural fluorescence within retinal cells. It uncovers subtle changes linked to macular degeneration, inherited retinal disorders, and certain medication toxicities long before they are visible on other scans.

Retinal Imaging and Structural Tests

Retinal Imaging and Structural Tests

High-resolution scans and wide-field photos let us see swelling, thinning, or tiny structural changes, often before you notice symptoms. Early findings guide treatment while a problem is still easy to manage.

OCT is a non-invasive scan that captures cross-sectional images of the retina, like a 3D snapshot of its layers. It detects early signs of macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes.

This high-resolution photograph of the back of the eye documents and tracks changes in the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels over time, supporting care for glaucoma, optic nerve damage, hypertensive retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration.

Ultra-wide images capture up to 200 degrees of the retina in one shot. This broad view helps us catch peripheral issues such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, lattice degeneration, and uveitis.

OCT-A visualizes blood flow without dye. It allows us to find abnormal vessel growth or subtle circulation changes linked to diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other vascular disorders.

Microperimetry maps your central vision directly onto retinal images, while perimetry checks side vision and finds blind spots. Combined, they track changes across both central and peripheral vision for more personalized care.

B-scan ultrasound shows the inside of the eye when the view is blocked by dense cataracts, vitreous hemorrhage, or retinal detachment. It is essential in trauma cases and emergencies that require rapid surgical decisions.
